The Great Gatsby or Silent Borring adabtation??!!!! Review play production

I saw the play which was the adaption of The Great Gatsby in UPM, as student play production, it is entirely very, very average work, and Perhaps one of the usual work in this university. As I have experience of play in this university especially work on experimental theater here, all student really try hard to make this play work, but unfortunately, the language (I mean accent, pronunciation) was very weak, I just found out this group work on this play over six months, to be exact they planning for three months and exercising for rehearsal for three months as well.

The design of the dress was acceptable and even the makeup but, unfortunately, the actor’s play very unreal and about the Gatsby characters, he is not even close to the novel at all.

Totally it’s not bad for unprofessional players, but it is too basic for the university works, what all the cast tries their best to make it happens, which is real.

The only point which makes this play worst is the sound and audience, I can call this the silent boring play, because the whole play is the dialogue which the audience should be familiar with it, and on the other hands, the back row of sitters can’t even hear the single word.

I think this kind of play is not suitable for Malaysian at all, because the majority of people is not familiar with the plot and they use to see everything with images, I meant something keeps them busy in obvious point.

At last, the only think I know that this play was excellent experience for the cast and they really tries to make it possible for rest of the student to see their point of view; which at this point is respectable.
